Our Massage Therapists
Cornelis started his healing activities at 15, when his father taught him “laying on of hands” in the Christian Science tradition. His fascination with the body continued as he regularly witnessed surgeries while working as a hospital orderly in Germany. In 1980 he was inspired to train as a Therapist of Reichian bodywork at the Dharmadeep Center in Hamburg, and the Seminar Dienst under Marc and Gisela Enay. He further extended his education in New Mexico at the Academy of Natural Healing in Santa Fe in 1988, studying Structural re-balancing, trigger point, deep tissue, sports massage, and Thai massage, as well as courses in matrix energetics, stretching, and reiki.
With 37 years of practice, Cornelis brings precise physiological and empathetic knowledge of what is needed to restore the neuromuscular system to balance and health. His interest in metaphysics dovetails with a natural affinity and gift for energy work and he has developed clear empathetic skills. He is fascinated with the healing properties of sound, and practices Qi Gong, breath work, or Yoga on a daily basis.
Sarah completed her training at the Asheville School of Massage and Yoga in North Carolina in 2012. She has long been fascinated with the mind body connection, and has a gift for tracing and releasing lines of tension and stress in the body. In her previous career she worked as a professional cellist and she brings with her the sensitivity and focus that training provided. Her creativity combines techniques from widely different modalities such as Structural Integration, deep tissue, trigger point, energy work, and cranio-sacral. She values both intuition and therapeutic specificity in her work, and has learned much from her husband’s 37 years of experience. They work together as a team of therapists.
